Diversity in Values:
People may interpret a particular value differently, because of the
abstract nature of values, unlike the frequently used perceptions of
envisioned future and purpose in the vision, which they view or
understand equally.
While a senior manager presses the value of professionalism, one
employee may interpret
professionalism as promptly responding to a customer needs, while
another employee
may view professionalism as being well informed. While neither employees
interpretation
is neither right nor wrong, neither interpretation may be how the senior
manager views professionalism. Part of the answer for the different
interpretations from the value of professionalism is words are defined
within a particular circumstance and relationship to other words.
